Tecta is an important furniture manufacturer based in Lauenförde, Germany whose primary mission is to preserve and further develop concepts and designs of modernism originating from the Bauhaus movement. Tecta has historically produced licensed Bauhaus designs endorsed by the Bauhaus Archive, as well as designs by innovators of the 21st century, continuing the development of Bauhaus ideas.
Situated along the meandering banks of the river Weser, Lauenförde has been a magnet for avant-garde designers for decades despite its modest population of 3,000. Renowned figures such as British architects Alison & Peter Smithson, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Sergius Ruegenberg, Jean Prouvé, Stefan Wewerka, and the eminent Bauhaus thinkers from the Gropius family have all been drawn to this town.
Tecta has three models for design; producing licensed, legacy works by Bauhaus masters, producing new designs with world-renowned designers, and creating pieces with their own internal Tecta design team.
