Description
This is a Saarinen Tulip Pedestal Swivel Armchair, Model 150A, designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in 1956. This particular example dates to the 1960s, making it an early production piece. It retains its original Knoll bowtie label. The design features a sculpted tulip-like base that is composed of powder-coated cast aluminum, and the shell is formed of molded fiberglass. It has a new upholstered cushion done in a tomato-red hopsack material.
The chair measures 23.5 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 32 inches high. It has a seat height of 18 inches and an arm height of 25.38 inches.The shell is in good condition with no major wear to the fiberglass. There are scuffs and scrapes throughout. The piece has not been redone and therefore has an ecru hue to the finish. Overall, this chair is in good vintage condition with age apparent. Please see photos.
