Description
The S40 showcase appears like a model for a high-rise building in New York City: its stacked elements are clearly visible, and the construction is surprising. It seems as if Breuer inserted the base under slim support struts. This creates two completely opposite views. The sides jump back and forth, flare out. There isn't a monolith standing there, Breuer created a dynamic sculpture that brings to mind large loading vehicles at the harbor that pick up and transport containers. The 1925 design, which can be seen in the exhibition at the Staatliches Bauhaus Weimar, impresses with its human dimensions: 165 centimeters high, 80 centimeters wide and deep, it celebrates a casual modernity that is relaxed and attuned to the dynamic people it was intended to serve.

Do you deliver to NYC?
Yes, in-stock items can often be delivered to NYC quickly by our skilled couriers. Pieces are delivered by hand to your residence. This typically takes 1-2 weeks for items stocked at our warehouse in PA.
