Pipistrello Lamp, Modello 620
By Gae Aulenti for Martinelli Luce
Description
This is a Pipistrello Lamp, Model 620, designed by Gae Aulenti for Martinelli Luce in 1965. This example dates to the 1970s. It features an opal-white methacrylate shade, and the base and knob are white lacquered aluminum. The lamp offers a diffused light, and is adjustable in height via its telescopic neck. Pipistrello translates to “bat” in Italian, as was the inspiration behind Aulenti’s design. This is the larger version of this lamp.
This lamp measures 21 inches in diameter, and is 35.75 inches high. The height adjusts from 28 inches to 35.75 inches. It has some fine scratches to the base and shade. It works as it should. Overall, the lamp is in very good vintage condition with light wear. Please see photos.
