May Day Table Lamp

May Day is a portable light fixture with a utility aesthetic, by product designer Konstantin Grcic. It is made with an injection-molded tapered opaline polypropylene diffuser. Its hook/handle, also acting as cord winder, is made of 10% talc-filled injection-molded polypropylene.
Grcic studied cabinetry making in London before working for designer Jasper Morrison. In 1991, Grcic opened his own practice, and by 1995 had received recongition for his Refolo trolley for Driade. Since then, he has continued to gain recognition for works such as the Chair_One chair for Magis (2004), numerous lamps for Flos, and seating for Emeco and Herzog & de Meuron's Parrish Art Museum.
