LKR Chair
By Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller
Description
This is a Pair of LKR Wire Side Chairs with Rare “Cats Cradle” Lounge Bases, initially designed by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in 1951.This pair dates to circa 1953, and the listed price includes the pair as shown. Surprisingly, they retain their original Herman Miller tags. LKR is an acronym that stands for Low (height) K-wire (chair) Rod (base). The bases are composed of steel wire that is coated with black enamel, and the original upholstery is a tan woven fabric.
Each chair measures 21.65 inches deep, 19.25 inches wide, and 26 inches high. They have a seat height of 12.5 inches, and a seat depth of 18.25 inches. We have intentionally left these chairs in their original condition to showcase their history. One chair has a water stain on the upholstery fabric, and there are several small spots throughout. The foam on both pieces has dissolved, but is completely original. The black enamel is somewhat faded but remains intact. Overall, these chairs are in good vintage condition and appear completely original. Please see photos.
