Description

This is an original 1950s LC1 Basculant Sling Lounge Chair, initially designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1929. This example is marked with a Stendig label, the American importer for Le Corbusier's designs in the 1950's. During this time, the only authorized LC1 chairs were produced by Thonet in Germany and exported to the States by Stendig. Very few original examples still exist, especially those produced prior to Cassina's purchase of the LC production rights in the late 1960's. The piece has a tubular steel frame, and is upholstered in brown and tan cowhide leather.

The chair measures 22.5 inches long, 23.5 inches wide, and 25.5 inches high. We have intentionally left this piece in its original condition, and the signs of age have been preserved to showcase its history and charm. Any structural and functional issues have been repaired. There is some leather that is loose on the bottom of the seat, and there is light discoloration on the seat. Overall, this chair is in good original condition. Please see photos.

When do orders ship?

You can see estimated lead times under "Delivery", above.

Newly made items ship from a warehouse or are made-to-order. There may be a lead time depending on the piece. We'll keep you updated if there is.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.
