Description
This is a Custom ‘Kensington’ Sofa, produced by the Jonas Company in New York in 2004. The Jonas Co. is a specialty manufacturer of upholstered furniture and curtains, available to the trade only. The company may be best known for their work that has appeared in the White House over the past 50 years. The sofas in the Oval Office during Obama’s tenure were in fact custom-made by the Jonas Workroom.
This particular sofa features a deep seat, having three plush overstuffed seat cushions that are down filled. The underlying frame of the piece is wood, and it has hand-stitched horsehair fill. The upholstery fabric has a soft, velvet-like hand, and can be best described as a Weimaraner gray. There are 6 brown wooden legs that anchor the piece securely. This sofa was previously installed at a hedge fund office in Manhattan.
The sofa measures 43.75 inches deep, 88.25 inches wide, and 33.5 inches high. It has a seat height of 20.5 inches.
There are some signs of use on the legs, and one leg has a small nick on the wood. The fabric is in extremely good shape, having some light rubs to the fibers that are difficult to see due to the sheen. Overall, this sofa is in very good condition. Please see photos.
