Flat Bar Brno Chair, Model 255
By Mies van der Rohe for Knoll
Description
This is a Brno Chair, Model 255, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929. These particular examples were produced in the USA in 2019 by Knoll. This listing price is for one Brno chair, and we have several available for purchase. Their design features a chromed steel flat bar frame that has a cantilever base, and sports grey leather upholstery. They have coordinating leather arm pads. The flat bar construction was some of the first of its kind, as opposed to the tubular stylings of the Bauhaus. With its introduction in 1929-1930, the design would stake its origins in the tail end of the Bauhaus period, which ended in 1933.
Each chair measures 22.5 inches deep, 22.75 inches wide, and 31.5 inches high. Their seat height is 17.5 inches. The steel bases and arms have some light scratches and rubs from use. There is also some creasing to the arm rests. Overall, these chairs are in very good to excellent condition with normal light wear. One chair has a rub mark on the back edge, which we will try our best to touch up prior to shipping. Please see photos.
