Diavoletti Family
By Alessandro Mendini and Daniel Eltner for Cappellini
Description
The Diavoletti Family is a collection of three different vases, each with a distinct color. Red Diavoletto, pink Diavoletta and yellow Diavoletto form an enigmatic contemporary tryptic, an ironic reinterpretation of the symbolic talisman through which to exorcise the trials and tribulations of everyday life. Made of ceramic, the Diavoletti Family vases have a matte exterior and glossy interior, and are made using ancient techniques from the 1700s. The elements appear bizarre and surreal, inspired by the idols from the Cycladic civilization on the island of Mykonos.
The Diavoletti Family was designed by Daniel Eltner. After Daniel finished his studies, he founded his own studio, Destudioeltner, in 1994, where he dedicates himself to product design for many companies such as Rosenthal, Sabattini Argenteria, WMF, Longchamp, Moser, Vista Alegre and Microsoft. In 2015, the German designer began a proficuous collaboration with architect and designer Alessandro Mendini, with whom he created the Diavoletti Family vases, included in the Cappellini catalogue.
