Cobra Table Lamp
Made by Gubi
The Cobra Table Lamp is a classic and yet unique lamp that with its tubular flexible arm can be bent in all directions, allowing the shade to be rotated through 360º. This creates a wide range of lighting options for either the work desk or a soft light in the living room. The lamp takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which is reminiscent of a cobra's neck. Due to its groundbreaking design, the Cobra Table Lamp won the Good Design Award in the same decade and was subsequently exhibited at the Good Design Show at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
The Cobra Lamp Collection was designed by Greta M. Grossman. Greta maintained a prolific forty-year career in both Europe and North America, and operated as mover and shaker in the male dominated world of mid-century modern design. Her achievements were many and encompassed industrial design, interior design and architecture. In 1933, she opened her studio and married jazz musician Billy Grossman.
