Description

This is a single sculptural barrel-back desk chair, retaining its original blue fabric upholstered seat, and resting on a bronze 5-point base with Shepherd Profile casters. This chair was designed by Ward Bennett and produced by Brickel Associates, ca. 1969. This particular design was introduced in 1964 and is a classic example of Bennett's work during the 1960’s. Condition overall is very good to excellent with some light wear to the upholstery from use. See photos.

Two chairs are available. The price listed is for each chair.

Each chair measures 33.5 inches tall by 27 inches wide and 26 inches deep. The seat height is adjustable between 17 inches -21 inches. The price listed is for one chair. As noted, two chairs are available.

Over the span of Bennett’s career, he designed more than 150 chairs. He compared his design process to that of an artist creating a sculpture, working by piecing the chairs' elements together gradually until he approved of the design as a whole. Using the highest quality materials was integral to Bennett, and making deliberate design choices in order to ensure the most comfortable seating situation was fundamental. Perhaps this is why Ward Bennett’s designs are considered more de rigueur than ever.

What is Freight shipping?
