Description

This is an Art Deco Machine Age Smoking Stand, attributed to W.J. Campbell for the Climax Machinery Company. The piece was produced in the United States in the 1930s. These types of stands were originally placed in the lounge and bar cars of streamlined railroad trains during the 1930s. The stand was built with a heavy cast-iron base to insure stability when being used on a traveling train. The frame of the stand has silver and chrome details, and and the top is made of enameled wood. It has a handle on its top that allows for easy movement of the piece.

This stand measures 18 inches in diameter, and is 30 inches high. There are heavy signs of age and use on this stand, including rust and patina throughout. The top shows areas of degradation to the enamel, and there is discoloration. Despite the obvious signs of age, this piece is in solid condition and presents beautifully. Please see photos.

What should I expect when ordering an item with lead time?

Estimated lead times are shown under "Delivery", above. Read our shipping policy to learn more.

Lead times are estimated based on previous production times from our manufacturing partners, but lead times can change depending on availability and circumstances outside of Rarify's control.

For example: if purchasing an imported or made-to-order product, international shipping and import times depend on many factors. This includes US customs operations, global trade circumstances, and production facilities in other countries.

We will try to fulfill your order as quickly as possible. Our international freight forwarding partners help to take burden off of you during the process of importing; we appreciate your patience while your order is fulfilled.

Purchasing made-to-order is one of the most responsible ways to purchase, as it helps prevent furniture waste on our planet.

Vintage items are typically in-stock in the USA and ready to ship once purchased.

How much does shipping cost?

To see shipping costs, add an item to your cart and proceed to checkout. You'll be able to see costs there.

Do you deliver to NYC?

Yes, in-stock items can often be delivered to NYC quickly by our skilled couriers. Pieces are delivered by hand to your residence. This typically takes 1-2 weeks for items stocked at our warehouse in PA.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.

Freight shipments can take longer and are more costly than regular mail, but help to prevent damage to furniture during delivery.

Is everything authentic?

Rarify's entire collection is evaluated by credentialed experts for authenticity. We strive to only list an item for sale if we're certain it's authentic. Our team reviews every piece.
