Description

This is an original Wassily Lounge Chair, model B3, initially designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925. It has cognac brown leather upholstery and a chromed-steel frame that is tubular in nature, emblematic of Breuer’s best-known works. This particular example appears to be made by Thonet or another quality manufacturer, but is not by Knoll or Gavina based on our assessment. The chair does have welded end caps, but the detailing underneath doesn’t seem to match typical Knoll or Gavina examples. It has high quality belting leather, which appears to be original to the piece. Thonet offered this piece in their catalog throughout the 1960s and 1970s, so it seems Thonet production is most likely.

The chair measures 27 inches deep, 31 inches wide, and is 28.75 inches high. It has a seat height of 16.5 inches, and an arm height of 23 inches. There is some patina on the frame, and some slight cloudiness to the finish. There are a few scant spots on the leather, which has caramelized nicely. Overall, this chair presents beautifully with some signs of use. Please see photos.

What should I expect when ordering an item with lead time?

Estimated lead times are shown under "Delivery", above. Read our shipping policy to learn more.

Lead times are estimated based on previous production times from our manufacturing partners, but lead times can change depending on availability and circumstances outside of Rarify's control.

For example: if purchasing an imported or made-to-order product, international shipping and import times depend on many factors. This includes US customs operations, global trade circumstances, and production facilities in other countries.

We will try to fulfill your order as quickly as possible. Our international freight forwarding partners help to take burden off of you during the process of importing; we appreciate your patience while your order is fulfilled.

Purchasing made-to-order is one of the most responsible ways to purchase, as it helps prevent furniture waste on our planet.

Vintage items are typically in-stock in the USA and ready to ship once purchased.

Do you deliver to NYC?

Yes, in-stock items can often be delivered to NYC quickly by our skilled couriers. Pieces are delivered by hand to your residence. This typically takes 1-2 weeks for items stocked at our warehouse in PA.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.

Freight shipments can take longer and are more costly than regular mail, but help to prevent damage to furniture during delivery.
