Serpentine Light 8 Suspension Lamp (2023)
Made by Moooi
The Serpentine Suspension Light is an airy suspension lamp made from elaborate twists and turns. The lighting design originated from twisting and turning a piece of paper. By playing with the tension and natural flow—discovering the limits of the different shapes paper could adopt. The dark lines create the effect of an endless upwards spiral. The flow and curve of the almost translucent material is very natural and diffuses the light evenly. The design’s strong character and illusion of perpetual movement makes it the perfect lamp to hang above your dining table, in your hallway, or above your desk in your office.
The Serpentine Light was designed by by Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren, members of the Swedish design studio Front. Front’s design objects often communicate a story to the observer about the design process, about the material, or about conventions within the design field. Significant in their work is the partial assignment of the design process to animals, computers or machines. They worked on various projects such as a constantly changing interior, exploding objects, robotic furniture and a range of furniture inspired by their fascination with magic.
