A contraction of ‘quasi-stellar’, the Quasar portable lamp lights up your world with its three different hues (warm, neutral, and cold white). In scientific terminology, a Quasar is a star-like body that is considered to be the brightest of all. Quasar is a cordless lamp with a sleek, fun style. Built using LED technology, this lamp guarantees bright, sustainable, and environmentally friendly lighting. Equipped with a dimmer that can be set to three different intensities, Quasar adapts to whatever mood you are seeking to create. Its long-lasting battery can last up to 12 hours non-stop between charges. Functional, the Quasar portable lamp can be used both inside and outside. Its look and the materials used to make it have all been carefully considered to guarantee a quality product with optimal use. Designed using resistant materials of which at least 20% are recycled, this outdoor lamp is ideal in all weather conditions! Its IP54 grade waterproofing protects it against splashes and dust ingression. The portable lamp is also equipped with a solid polyester rope, which is both mold-proof and UV-resistant. It can therefore be hung outdoors in a tree or from a pergola. These features make Quasar a truly versatile lamp.
Quasar was designed by Samy Rio. Based in Arles, Samy Rio brings craftsmanship to industrial design. Hand-made designs and industrial processes are often seen as being opposing yet interdependent, yet in bringing the two together, the young designer has breathed new life into neglected traditions of craftsmanship while curbing the pull of mass production. Simple and sleek in appearance, Samy Rio’s pieces question the role design plays in exploring the theoretical underpinnings of sustainable practices by combining materials and processes.
