Description

Finn Juhl’s fascination with surrealism is clearly visible in the Pelican Chair. Among all his designs, the Pelican Chair was perhaps the most ahead of its time. Finn Juhl typically named his furniture after the year in which it was designed, but over time, the nickname The Pelican stuck. Even though the Pelican Chair gained instant recognition, 61 years would pass before it was finally put into production in 2001. It is manufactured with a cushion and is upholstered by hand in Denmark in textile, sheepskin or leather. The legs are available in oak, walnut or black painted.

Once a year, Finn Juhl's characteristic Pelican Chair becomes available with sheepskin from the Swedish island of Gotland. When the Pelican is upholstered in sheepskin from Gotland, the expression of the upholstery is entirely defined by nature. This means that each and every Pelican Chair will have an original and individual expression that emphasizes the characteristic and animalistic nature of the chair. The supply of sheepskin from Gotland is seasonal and therefore the quantities for sale are limited.

Fabric consumption is 3.35m for the frame, and .60m for the cushion.

When do orders ship?

You can see estimated lead times under "Delivery", above.

Newly made items ship from a warehouse or are made-to-order. There may be a lead time depending on the piece. We'll keep you updated if there is.

Vintage items are all in-stock and ready to ship.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.

Freight shipments can take longer and are more costly than regular mail, but help to prevent damage to furniture during delivery.
