Description

This is a set of six Hat Trick dining chairs, model 91C, designed by Frank Gehry for Knoll in 1990. The listed price includes all 6 chairs. Their sinuous silhouette is formed from steam-bent white maple strips that have been laminated. The ribbon-like frame molds to the user, offering a supportive yet pliable back rest that allows for ease in change of position. These data to the late 90s to early 2000s.

Each chair measures 22.25 inches long, 23.375 inches wide, and 33.5 inches high. They have a seat height of 18 inches. The underside of most pieces (they did this slightly differently depending on year) is embossed with the Knoll logo and Frank Gehry’s signature. I believe two of them are unmarked underneath. These chairs are in good to very good condition, exhibiting some common design issues.

There is a crack in the veneer on the back of one chair (shown in photos), which has seemingly been repaired already. Another chair has been repaired on the back bar (also shown in photos). It is shown second to the right in the main image. Overall, these chairs are in good condition with some wear apparent. I'd say pragmatically that there are the two chairs with repairs, both of which are totally usable. The other four are in nice shape. Some may have been re-glued during their life, which is quite typical for these. Please see photos.

When do orders ship?

You can see estimated lead times under "Delivery", above.

Newly made items ship from a warehouse or are made-to-order. There may be a lead time depending on the piece. We'll keep you updated if there is.

Vintage items are all in-stock and ready to ship.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.

Freight shipments can take longer and are more costly than regular mail, but help to prevent damage to furniture during delivery.
