Description
This is a very special pair of “Homme” Chairs, designed by artist Ruth Francken in 1971. The limited-edition pair was produced in France in 1988 by Gallerie X. For this their final production run, they only produced 150 examples in black, and 150 examples in white. The silhouette of a sitting man was initially formed when the artist made a plaster mold from a living model in her studio. She then took the mold and injected it with polyurethane foam, and lacquered it in glossy paint. She added a tubular polished stainless-steel base for stability. The listed price includes the pair of chairs as shown.
Each chair measures 27 inches deep, 23.5 inches wide, and 41 inches high. This pair has some light surface blemishes, and there are some small white marks on the back of the pieces. There are some small marks on the fronts. Overall, this important pair of chairs is in very good vintage condition. Please see photos.
