Description

This is a collection of personal desk objects from the estate of Gordon Bunshaft, the influential American architect best known for his work with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and iconic projects such as the Lever House and Beinecke Library. The grouping includes four items: a vintage lighter, a sculptural paperweight, a miniature shovel pin, and a small glass piece.

The listed price includes all four items to be sold as a set.

The pieces vary in size and material, with finishes ranging from metal to glass. All show signs of wear consistent with age and use, including surface marks and blemishes, adding to their character and provenance. Overall, the items are in good vintage condition. Please see photos.

Shovel Pin from Manufacturers Trust Company Building: 2.75 inches x .5 inches. Likely a commemorative pin for the groundbreaking or opening ceremony. It may or may not be from Tiffany but arrived to us in a Tiffany sleeve.

Dunhill Rollalite Silver-Plated Desk Table Lighter, potentially of 270 Park Avenue or other SOM tower: 1.44 inch depth, 1.44 inch width, and 2.75 inch height.

Paperweight from National Commercial Bank of Jeddah (in the shape of the building). It appears to be cast and machined solid bronze and was given to Bunshaft as a gift. 4.63 inch width, 2.25 inch height, and 2.25 inch depth.

SOM Lever House piece from SOM or Lever House's 50th Anniversary in glass: 3 inches x 2.75 inches.

What should I expect when ordering an item with lead time?

Estimated lead times are shown under "Delivery", above. Read our shipping policy to learn more.

Lead times are estimated based on previous production times from our manufacturing partners, but lead times can change depending on availability and circumstances outside of Rarify's control.

For example: if purchasing an imported or made-to-order product, international shipping and import times depend on many factors. This includes US customs operations, global trade circumstances, and production facilities in other countries.

We will try to fulfill your order as quickly as possible. Our international freight forwarding partners help to take burden off of you during the process of importing; we appreciate your patience while your order is fulfilled.

Purchasing made-to-order is one of the most responsible ways to purchase, as it helps prevent furniture waste on our planet.

Vintage items are typically in-stock in the USA and ready to ship once purchased.

How much does shipping cost?

To see shipping costs, add an item to your cart and proceed to checkout. You'll be able to see costs there.

  • Small items like lamps typically cost under $99 to ship.
  • Larger items including furniture often ship on a truck via Freight. Our furniture shippers professionally arrange and manage all Freight shipments.
  • Freight costs often range between $100 and $999 for furniture.
  • Very large and fragile items can cost more, depending on the ship-to-address.
  • Freight costs may include insurance.

Do you deliver to NYC?

Yes, in-stock items can often be delivered to NYC quickly by our skilled couriers. Pieces are delivered by hand to your residence. This typically takes 1-2 weeks for items stocked at our warehouse in PA.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.

Freight shipments can take longer and are more costly than regular mail, but help to prevent damage to furniture during delivery.

Is everything authentic?

Rarify's entire collection is evaluated by credentialed experts for authenticity. We strive to only list an item for sale if we're certain it's authentic. Our team reviews every piece.
