Eames ETR Surfboard Coffee Table
By Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller
Description
This is an Eames ETR Surfboard Coffee Table, originally designed by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in 1951. The table came out of a home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which had a huge amount of original George Nelson pieces in it. We were told by the previous owner that this piece dates to the 1950s, but was restored fully and that the laminate top layer was replaced. While we cannot fully verify this, it does all seem feasible based on the condition and detailing. The table is comprised of a bent welded steel base and laminate tabletop. ETR is an acronym for Elliptical Table on a Rod base.
This piece measures 89 inches long, 29 inches wide, and 10.25 inches high. There are two small chips on one of the edges but otherwise the table shows minor signs of wear and is in very good condition. Please see photos.
