AJ Wall Lamp
The AJ Wall Lamp emits downward directed light. The angle of the shade can be adjusted to optimize light distribution. The shade is painted white on the inside to ensure a soft comfortable light. The AJ lamp was originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and was found in rows in the hotel lobby, providing beautiful lighting and an elegant touch. The timeless design of the lamp ensures that it lends itself to every interior, and over the years the color palettes have been adapted in line with modern interior trends.
Mounted directly to finished surface over a 4" octagonal junction-box. Variants without on/off switch to be remotely controlled.
The AJ collection was designed by Danish designer, Arne Jacobsen. Jacobsen pursued his architecture degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After graduating in 1927, he got his first job working for the City Architect of Copenhagen, and just two years later he opened his own studio. As an architect, Jacobsen had very strong decision-making skills. This resulted in many of his more famous projects being ‘gesamtkunstwerk’, meaning he designed not only the building itself, but also the majority of the interior details, such as light fixtures, furniture, door handles, fabrics and even cutlery. During his lifetime, he received several prestigious awards including the National Bank in Copenhagen, SAS Royal Hotel & Terminal, Copenhagen, and St. Catherine’s College in Oxford, UK.
