Description

The AJ Royal Pendant Lamp comes in three sizes and is characterized by the ridges on top that allow a gentle light to exude upwards. In the new, energy-saving LED version, all three sizes come with a diffuser, which offers a smoother, 100% glare-free lighting. AJ Royal was originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Here it could be found in a copper version above the tables in the snack bar behind the atrium, in the lounge on the 1st floor and in the Panorama Lounge on the 21st floor.

The AJ collection was designed by Danish designer, Arne Jacobsen. Jacobsen pursued his architecture degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After graduating in 1927, he got his first job working for the City Architect of Copenhagen, and just two years later he opened his own studio. As an architect, Jacobsen had very strong decision-making skills. This resulted in many of his more famous projects being ‘gesamtkunstwerk’, meaning he designed not only the building itself, but also the majority of the interior details, such as light fixtures, furniture, door handles, fabrics and even cutlery. During his lifetime, he received several prestigious awards including the National Bank in Copenhagen, SAS Royal Hotel & Terminal, Copenhagen, and St. Catherine’s College in Oxford, UK.

When do orders ship?

You can see estimated lead times under "Delivery", above.

Newly made items ship from a warehouse or are made-to-order. There may be a lead time depending on the piece. We'll keep you updated if there is.

Vintage items are all in-stock and ready to ship.

What is Freight shipping?

Freight shipping is how most furniture is shipped: secured by hand on a pallet and transported on a truck.

Furniture arrives curbside, often on the shipping pallet for protection.

Freight shipments can take longer and are more costly than regular mail, but help to prevent damage to furniture during delivery.
