Conoid Cushion Chairs
By Mira Nakashima for Nakashima Woodworkers
Description
This is a pair of 2022 production Conoid cushion chairs by Mira Nakashima and the Nakashima Woodworkers. The Conoid cushion chair design was introduced in 1961 by Mira's father George and named after the Conoid Studio on their campus of buildings in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The Conoid cushion lounge adopts a sculpted crest rail similar to the Conoid dining chair. It uses hand-shaved hickory spindles and American black walnut for the remainder of the chair's construction. These two examples are in beautiful condition and may only show minuscule wear from transporting them to our warehouse and showroom. They have never been used in a home or commercial setting. The chairs are accompanied by new and original seat cushions upholstered in a nicely textured Knoll Textiles fabric. While not shown, there are also low back cushions (which cover approximately 30% of the back) to allow for added support, though not hiding the gorgeous spindle detailing. The chairs are signed and dated by Mira Nakashima. The original customer's name is not shown for privacy, though is also signed underneath. The chairs are guaranteed as authentic Mira Nakashima examples are will also come with a copy of the original order.
Each chair measures 24 inches wide (seat width) by 35 inches tall and 34 inches deep. The seat height is 15 inches.
