Rookie Studio Chair
Made by Vitra
The Rookie Studio Chair is a small, agile, and unconventionally simple chair. It provides a high level of immediate comfort with a minimal number of adjustments. 'Rookie is all about flexibility and change. Equally suited as a single desk chair for students or in larger numbers across a wide range of corporate workplaces, Both the seat and backrest of Rookie are height-adjustable. In addition to these classic functions of a task chair, other ergonomic features are directly incorporated into Rookie's structural design: the backrest flexes slightly when pressure is applied, and the front edge of the seat is unusually pliant.
Rookie was designed by Konstantin Grcic. Grcic studied cabinetry making in London before working for designer Jasper Morrison. In 1991, Grcic opened his own practice, and by 1995 had received recognition for his Refolo trolley for Driade. Since then, he has continued to gain recognition for works such as the Chair One chair for Magis (2004) and numerous lamps for Flos.
