The Frisbi Pendant Lamp's name invokes the iconic toy best played in a park, but this light is seriously smart. Offering three types of illumination-diffused, direct, and reflected-the 1978 Frisbi creation doubles down. Three barely-there, fine steel cables suspend the opal acrylic diffuser, making it appear as it if it is floating. A black metal stem and wire mesh basket assembly secure the reflector to its power cord.
The Frisbi Lamp was designed by Achille Castiglioni. The work of Achille Castiglioni challenges us to look with renewed wonder at the objects that we see everyday. New York’s Museum of Modern Art owns 14 of his pieces. Other works can be found in important museums around the world. Achille Castiglioni received 9 Compasso d’Oro awards.
