Basic Cabinet Series Nightstands (1950s)
Made by Herman Miller
This is a pair of BCS nightstands, designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller in 1946. These were part of George Nelson's Basic Cabinet Series. The listed price includes the set of two cabinets. The cabinet cases are walnut, and have ebonized lacquered legs. They retain their original walnut pulls.
Each cabinet measures 18.5 inches deep, 18 inches wide, and 24.5 inches high. Both pieces are of equal dimensions, making them ideal for flanking a bed or sofa. There have some light surface scratches and some scuffs to the legs. There are a few flecks of paint on one of the cabinets. Overall, these nightstands are in good condition with nice patina (but they do show wear as noted). Please see photos.
